Yes, it is indeed another Yoji Shinkawa character that I've tried to recreate, but this time I've gone wild (compared to my usualy techniques) and experimented much more with colour.
The original pencil drawing (2 hours maybe) was scanned and darkened and then I thought of ways to add colour - something I'd also intended to do but never got round to doing it because it would involved actual paints (I dont like painting) and I was busy elsewhere and a coloured Ninja wasn't the main focus (thats where Clint Eastwood comes in).
So, I finally found a way of adding colour so that it would blend with the other colours to look similar in effect to what Shinkawa has done in Photoshop, and yet if you hold this image up next to his, they are completely different (other than the fact my right foot is a bit high...)
Three colour layers later and here is a much stroner and darker looking Ninja. If you've ever seen the original, you'll notice the colours are much lighter and that there isn't as strong a contrast to the colours and the plain white background.
As usual, I'm experimenting with colour but I must remember that I still need to draw the images first...
Strange as it may seem, I absolutely love that hand. It was the first hand I've drawn since 2003 maybe - properly at least, and I've got some close up hands somewhere at school if I've finished them.
Anyway, enough about hands, thanks for your views.
That is really cool! I like how the colors came out (I am just starting with colors) and I like the pose! Good job.

A brand new monthly article which showcases some of deviantART's finest equine artists, as well as recognizing the lesser-known but equally talented ones. Interviews, helpful tutorials and features can all be found here too! I hope you enjoy it.
The idea of this contest is to set you up completely blind with a mythical being - from any world culture - and turn you loose to come up with a deviation based around it!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
